The 5.5″ Meekster is the mid-size version of the CNC surface iron we carry in 6.5″. It has the same machined aluminum body, offset hips and TIG-welded rings, scaled down to 2.8 oz. That puts a slimmer profile in the water when the fish are keyed on small bait and won’t commit to a full-size iron.
Classic irons like the Salas and Tady are still the standard, but no two pieces swim quite the same, and finding a good one can take a few tries. Every Meekster is machined to the same shape, so the action you get from one is the action you get from the next.
The rings are TIG welded instead of soldered or brazed, and the welds come out clean. The colors are powder coated, which holds up better than paint. Galaxy Black carries a metallic flake that is hard to photograph: in sunlight it looks almost iridescent, so it works in gray light and still shows up well after the sun is out.
