The Tanacom S500J is the palm-size electric at 800 g (28.2 oz) it fishes in the hand all day, so you feel the bite, set the hook, and fight the fish instead of watching a rod holder do it. Daiwa built it as the value version of its compact JOG-lever platform: same one-thumb control, same deep-drop capability, friendlier price.
The JOG POWER LEVER is a thumb-rolled throttle: motor speed and clutch in one control, so you react to a bite or feather a fish up the water column the way you would on conventional gear. The BRITZ motor (about 1.2 the winding power of the previous S500J) rides in front of the spool Daiwa’s FF construction with the MAGMIGHT structure and drives through a quiet belt drive. A fall-brake dial sets drop speed instantly, and the one-push clutch and SYNCHRO LEVEL WIND keep line management clean.
The waterproof ATD carbon drag delivers 35 lb (16 kg) with a smooth, shock-absorbing start, on an aluminum die-cast body with 8 ball bearings plus a roller and Infinite Anti-Reverse. Momentary winding power is 72 lb (33 kgf); no-load speed runs 170 m/min through 3.6:1 gears at 21.8″ per crank.
Auto jigging programs, adjustable auto-stop, line feeding, fukase (bite-alarm) mode, fixed-speed winding, timer and chumming timer, and a fishing-history log all on a dot LCD that stays readable through polarized glasses, with feet-or-meters readout, multi-language display, counter lamp, and an overload breaker. Note: the rod clamp is sold separately on this model.
Runs on DC 1216.8 V Daiwa’s Super Lithium or Tough Battery series is the recommended source; it will not run on household AC or 24 V boat power. Daiwa backs US Tanacoms with a one-year warranty.
