What Our Gearhead Experts Are Saying:”I fish click-and-pawl reels when I want to stay connected to every run, and this one feels dialed. The tolerances are smooth, the click is consistent, and the palmable control gives you confidence without ever feeling fussy.”When the take is clean and the fish turns downstream, we want to feel everythingand that’s exactly where the Battenkill Click Reel shines. We fish it on quiet rivers, technical water, and days when slowing things down makes the experience richer. Built by Orvis as a modern evolution of a proven classic, it keeps the connection between hand, reel, and fish direct and intentional. The click-and-pawl system delivers smooth, predictable resistance that invites hands-on control, while tightened tolerances create a noticeably refined retrieve. The curved reel foot protects leaders during transitions, and the standard arbor, ported design keeps weight balanced without losing its traditional profile. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished with an ergonomic Delrin handle, it’s a reel that feels as good after a long day as it does on the first cast.
